Old Man
For this exercise, I had to take the picture on the left and transform it to look as close to the picture in the middle as possible. I first selected just the outline of the man and adjusted the brightness and contrast. Then I selected the background and adjusted the brightness and contrast on that as well. I then applied the burn tool to his hair, mustache and tie. The finished product is on the right.
Extracting The Subject
This exercise was a relatively easy one. I selected the man and moved him to another layer. I erased the leftover white from the original picture of the man. I then flipped the picture of the man horizontally. Then, I resized the picture and added a shadow to make it look like he really belongs in the picture of the boardwalk.
The Lady
For this project, I had to fix what was missing on the picture. I used the clone stamp tool to copy what was already on the damaged picture. I then looked up a picture of a gray napkin that I then copied and fixed so that I could recreate the missing tablecloth. By copying and pasting the table leg to the other side, I was able to fix it, making it look like it was there the whole time. To finish off the picture, I merged all the layers together and added a drop shadow. The top picture is what we had to work with. The one on the left is my attempt and the right is what we were trying to make it look like.
Age Progression
This exercise required me to make somebody look older. I used Tina Fey as the person I would make look old. By following the tutorial on Mr. Yutkins' digital photo website. After making wrinkles and changing her brown hair to gray, Tina Fey is now old.
